Sikkim Outplayed Meghalaya In Men’s U23 One Day Trophy

Men’s Under 23 One Day Trophy 2019-20, hosted by Sikkim for the very first time has commenced from 31st October in Odisha and Sikkim has played two matches out of nine league matches to be played. After losing the first match against Puducherry, Sikkim came back strong and won their second match played against Meghalaya on Sunday 3rd November at Vikash Cricket Ground in Cuttack. Sikkim earned 4 point(s) for this win.

Sikkim won the toss and chooses to bat first. They scored 211 runs off 50 overs losing 7 wickets, with a brilliant knock from Parth Palawat of 93 runs not-out off 70 balls, well supported by Saurav Kumar Prasad (37 runs), Shahbaz Anwar (36 runs) and Chandra Bahadur Chettri (11 runs not-out). Meghalaya had the target of 212 runs to win in 50 overs at a run rate of 4.24 per over. From the beginning of the second innings, Sikkim maintained the pressure on the opponent by taking the early wickets. It was Dinesh Kumar Dhobi who played the Captain’s inning by taking 5 wickets; Mohammad Saptula took 2 wickets, 1 wicket each was taken by Chandra Bahadur Chettri, Harit Chauhan & Path Palawat. Meghalaya was all-out for 181 runs in 47.4 overs. Sikkim won the match by 30 runs.

The next match will be played at DRIEMS Ground, Cuttack on 7th November against Mizoram followed by other matches against Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, and Arunachal Pradesh. The players are boosted with this win and positively looking forward to the upcoming matches.
