Hat-Trick For Sikkim In Women’s U23 One Day Trophy
Winning is a habit and Sikkim’s Under 23 Women’s team is proving themselves by winning three back to back matches in ongoing Women’s U23 One Day Trophy 2019-20. They won their third match against Manipur today 31st January at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha by 143 runs, earning 4 Point(s) for the win.
Sikkim won the toss and chose to bat first. They scored 225 runs in 49.4 overs and once again it was Rinki Rajak who scored the highest of 90 runs. This is the second time in a row she has made 90 runs, Sarojini Giri made 25 runs and Pranita Chettri 24 runs. It was a decent total that was added to the scoreboard with a target of 226 runs to achieve in 50 overs for Manipur. Sikkim winning the entire match they have played so far in the tournament and having a good bowling attack have managed to maintain the pressure to the opponent.
In the Manipur’s innings, Sikkim has a good start by taking early wickets and sending both the opening batswomen to the pavilion for just 14 runs. Manipur started feeling the pressure, losing their wickets at a regular interval. They were all-out at 82 runs in 38.1 overs. Mariam Subba took 3 wickets, Pranita Chettri (2), Aruna Barman (2), Neema Yanki Lepcha and Rinki Rajak 1 wicket each.
“Playing full 50 overs in this format is our main motive and the players are doing so which is an achievement in itself. All the credit goes to the players for supporting each other and playing as a team and not as an individual. The captain is also leading from the front and converting the game into a victory by a huge margin.” Says Coach Amosh Rai.
Sikkim is standing in the second position of the plate division league table with 12 Point(s) by winning all the three matches they played and with 234 runs Rinki Rajak is in the third-ranking of the most runs so far in the tournament. Sikkim will be playing Mizoram on 2nd February at KIIT Cricket Stadium and the team is very much looking into it positively.
