SICA Not Satisfied With The Performance Of Teams In Ongoing Season

As the cricketing season, 2019-20 begins with the commencement of Vijay Hazare Trophy (Senior Category One Day Tournament) on 24th September 2019; Sikkim has played eight matches out of nine so far in the plate division suffering seven losses and a draw. Despite the results, Sikkim showed its spirit particularly in its fourth match of the tournament against Arunachal Pradesh where it set a target of 268 runs in 50 overs with the loss of seven wickets even though the match was lost. So far top five scorers for Sikkim is Yashpal Singh with (227 runs), Ashish Thapa (191 runs), Iqbal Abdullah (131 runs), Bibek Diyali (71 runs) and Ishwar Chaudhry (68 runs) and top five bowlers being Ishwar Chaudhary, Yashpal Singh, Iqbal Abdullah 8 wickets each, Palzor Tamang (4 wickets) and Padam Limboo (3 wickets). The senior team will be playing its last match of the tournament on 16th October against Mizoram.

The Under 19 Men’s team is also participating in the ongoing Vinoo Mankad Trophy (One Day Tournament), where five matches have played so far and we have unfortunately lost all of them. Subhojeet Halder is top scorer with 85 runs, Pranav Rajvanshi (79 runs), Robin Limboo (58 runs), Sankalp Singhai (35 runs) and Ingsho Limboo and Rahul Prasad are top wicket-taker with 4 wickets each, Bhim Luitel and Sankalp 3 wickets each. They will be playing total of nine matches in this tournament of which four are still to be played against Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Chandigarh.

“We are not happy with the performance shown by our teams so far, the executive body of SICA is watching the performance of the individual players closely and if required necessary changes would be implemented to uplift the performance of the team”, says SICA President – Lobzang G. Tenzing.

Under 16 Boy’s Team Celebrating Victory Against Meghalaya

Were the senior team’s performance is not going good, the Under 16 Boys’ team who are playing Vijay Merchant Multi-Day Tournament at present in Odisha have shown brilliant teamwork and put a good show defeating the opponent Meghalaya in their first match with an innings and 114 runs. Two of our bowlers named Yawar Hussain and Tushya Naman Sharma had a five-wicket haul and all the other players equally contributed to this historical win. They will be playing a total of five matches in the Northeast and Bihar Division of the tournament.

Sikkim will be playing 14 different national level tournaments this season in various categories of both men and women.
