SICA Grassroots Outreach Programme In North Sikkim

Mangan 8th Sep 2021: Sikkim Cricket Association conducted its Grass root outreach program under the banner Cricket at your doorstep for the North District of Sikkim. The tour covered the four hubs of North Sikkim where there are signs of growth in cricket activity for the past year. This growth is a direct result of the various other programs initiated by SICA such as the Cricket Mela, District-wise Cricket Camps, Talent Hunt, etc.

A Team led by the President SICA and the executives along with North District Cricket Committee President, executives, and officials traveled to Chungthang, Lachung, Lachen, and Naga.

The tour was geared towards reaching out to the remote regions of the state, with the intention of setting up cricket facilities like nets along with concrete pitches, hearing out the various issues and problems faced by them as well as offering Kits Bags along with Brand new bat, cricket gear and equipment which SICA hopes will serve as an encouragement to the active players and members in the aforementioned areas. During the tour, SICA officials met with Chairman of Welfare State Commission Mr. Nim Tshering Lepcha, Chungthang GPU Panchayat members Tshering Lepcha, Sonam Wangyal, Blomit Lepcha, Pipon Lachung Pema Wangyal Lachungpa, Ex-Zilla member Diki Lepcha, NDCC Scrutiny in charge, and Chungthang sports committee members, who were appreciative of such steps taken by SICA and were forthcoming in extending all necessary assistance from their end.
