SICA Cricket Fun Fair Reaches Dzongu

DZONGU, March 21: After successful completion of Cricket Fun Fair at Mangan on 20th March, the Fun Fair reached Dzongu, North Sikkim today. The pilot project of Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) “Cricket Fun Fair” is too pronged strategy, i.e. CRICKET AT YOUR DOORSTEP, which means to make cricket aware at the grass-root level and CRICKET AS A CAREER, which is to make the school children’s and teachers’ aware to take-up cricket as a career which pays a rich dividends.

Over 300 students from surrounding schools of Dzongu gathered at Sonam Choda Lepcha Sec. School, Lingdong today. The fun-fair was inaugurated by the Honorable MLA of Dzongu Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha. He appreciated the efforts of SICA in bringing Cricket to Dzongu and also showed his willingness to partner with SICA to develop cricket in the region. The President of SICA sanctioned a ‘Concrete Pitch’ at the school and also will be organising a coaching camp for the students of Dzongu soon.

The event was attended by Ms Chungden Lepcha – Panchayat President, Mr Samten Lepcha – Principal of Sonam Choda Lepcha Sec. School, Members School Managing Committee and teachers of the neighbouring school. The event was a successful one and the SICA will be looking forward to the same successful event tomorrow in Chungthang, where the fun-fair will be organised in Phu-Phu Stadium.
