Northeast Cricket Development Committee meeting held in Gangtok

The executive committee meeting of North East Cricket Development Committee (NECDC) which is a coordinating body of six NADP state of BCCI as members namely Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim was held at Gangtok on 8th January 2018; hosted by Sikkim Cricket Association. The meeting chaired by Naba Bhattacharjee Co-Convener NECDC deliberated on a host of issues as per agenda circulated in advance.

The meeting unanimously resolved to sustain and strengthen the present approach of working together for development of cricket in the 6 states and extend support to each other and work in close coordination towards attaining the goal of NECDC as per norms and guidelines of BCCI and CoA.

The meeting decided to organize tournaments at different age category as per BCCI format, in a more systematic and professional approach within each state with emphasis on tournaments like inter school and college level including exchange program among the six states. Further, it was also agreed that proposal be sent to BCCI for exposure trips and tournaments with other state teams outside the region, in different age categories, prior to commencement of BCCI tournaments. This will provide an opportunity to players from the six states to play with better teams and gain valuable exposure experience and honing of technical skills of the game.

The proposal of BCCI suggesting drawing of calendar of events in each of the states including imparting coaching, team selection, prior preparation of teams including registration aspect for an organized approach like course and training of curators, video analysts, on-line and manual scorers was discussed and finalized. As desired by BCCI, budget for undertaking all such initiatives shall be drawn by each state on priority and sent to BCCI for approval.

Further, it was also resolved that all projects which includes construction of indoor practice facilities, developing of ground and pitches, construction of mini stadium etc., which was passed in 2015 by the working committee of BCCI needs to be implemented on priority in all the six states with provision for completion during the coming off season.

Moreover, as suggested by BCCI the Fees and DA of local coaches, physio, trainer, curator, ground supervisor, VDO analysts, Online and manual scorers, Umpires; engaged by each of the states for local tournaments within the state to be funded by BCCI as per prevailing arrangement, was also finalized in a uniform rate basis for all states.

The meeting also decided to approach appropriate authorities regarding inclusion of the six states in Ranji Trophy from next season similar to direction of Hon’ble Supreme Court for allowing Bihar to play in Ranji Trophy. At present NE and Bihar comprises the NE/Bihar Zone for all BCCI tournaments.
