First-Ever Visit By The BCCI Secretary To Sikkim
Gangtok, January 7: A historic moment for the state as it is, the first time that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Secretary visits Sikkim. Shri Jay Shah’s visit to Sikkim was an official trip to inspect and assess the current infrastructural status and operations of cricket in the state of Sikkim under the Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA). Shri Jay Shah who has been appointed as the overseer of four states, viz. Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Mr Shah was accompanied by Cricket Association of Bengal President, Mr Avishek Dalmiya, IPL Governing Council councillor Mr Mamon Majumdar, BCCI interim CEO Mr Hemang Amin and BCCI AGM (Operations) Mr Gaurav Saxena.
The BCCI delegates and SICA executives having called on visited the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Golay at his residence at Mintokgang. Several points catered for the development of the sport in the state was appraised and discussed. It was very encouraging to see help and assistance being extended from both ends, with the BCCI Secretary Shri Jay Shah encouraging further infrastructural development as well as the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Golay’s assurance of any assistance from his side. Hon’ble Chief Minister was particularly happy to see a visit by a BCCI official of such high stature, which is unprecedented in the history of the state. The entire team of the visiting delegates were also very encouraged by the proactive attitude of the Hon’ble Chief Minister towards the development of Sports and cricket in particular.
Later, the visiting delegates met with the SICA executives for a meeting to further discuss various agendas relating to cricket in Sikkim. The SICA executives made presentations on planned infrastructural projects in detail as well as submitted various reports including the Audit report. It would be pertinent to mention here that BCCI, Secretary was very pleased after having perused the audit report stating that it is good to see that SICA has maintained its balance sheet in proper order.
The meeting was then followed by Cultural show and Gala dinner, hosted by Sikkim Cricket Association.
