Consecutive Win For Sikkim Under 16 Boy’s Cricket Team

Sikkim Under 16 Boy’s won their second match of the Vijay Merchant Multi-Day Trophy 2019-20 on 18th October 2019 against Mizoram by one wicket at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. After winning the first match against Meghalaya with an innings and 114 runs, this is their consecutive win. Sikkim earned 2 points for this win and with 4 points in two matches the team is standing in the second position of the Northeast and Bihar group.

The match was started on 17th October 2019 with Mizoram winning the toss and elected to bat first. In the first innings, Mizoram was all out for 96 runs. Yawar Hussain took six wickets, Tusya Naman Sharma 2 wickets, Obedonyx Subba and Tarun Sharma taking one wicket each. Sikkim batting collapsed for just 67 runs with Adarsh Pandey scoring the innings highest (21 runs) and Senge Wajahat Mehdi scoring 14 runs.

In the second innings once again with brilliant and effective bowling, Sikkim restricted the opponent to a total of 111 runs, giving the target of 140 runs to win. Yawar Hussain took six wickets in second innings and was well supported by Tusya Naman Sharma who took three wickets. Captain Tarun Sharma took one wicket and brought Mizoram innings to an end. During the final innings of Sikkim the game was almost out of the hands as Sikkim lost wickets at a regular interval but with a matured batting by Mohammed Arif of 44 runs not out and holding the wicket from one end brought back the match in Sikkim’s favor and won the match by one wicket.

Yawar Hussain’s 6 wickets in both the innings made him the first player to take 12 wickets in a match for Sikkim. With these wins the players’, coaches and support staffs are confident and they are positively looking forward to the upcoming match against Arunachal Pradesh to be played from 23rd October 2019.
