BCCI Organized Orientation cum Sensitization Program on Finance for Northeast States

Prior of being a full member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), an orientation cum sensitization program on finance was organized by BCCI for Northeast States on 2nd July 2018 at Guwahati, Assam. The program was especially meant for Chartered Accountant/Accountant/Office Bearer and lead by the finance team of BCCI.

Sikkim Cricket Association was representation by Roshan Prasad (Internal Auditor), Ramji Prasad (Treasurer, North District Cricket Association), Krishna Subba (Accounts Support Staff), along with Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland Cricket Association representatives

Santosh Rangnekar, the Chief Financial Officer of BCCI started the program with the brief introduction and understanding of background and financial controls. Anand Uttamani, Rochit Mehrotra and Nikhil Khanna of BCCI finance team gave sessions on nature of payments, taxation, infrastructure subsidy, investment strategy, expenditure by the association, and process/mechanism of claiming from BCCI, which needs to be implemented in all the Cricket Associations in Northeast States. He made all the Northeast States associations understand the criticality involved with finance/taxation and requested to appoint professional staffs for handling it. He further stated that accounting system and software’s should be used and maintained as per accounting principles. No manual maintenance of accounts should be done! He strictly said.

Many important things was learned from this meet and it is understood that there are certain mechanism that needs to be changed from the traditional way to appropriate manner for the smooth functioning of the association, said Roshan Prasad.
