The same year he was promoted to U17 tour under the leadership of Lee Yong Lepcha and there he scored his 2nd Century batting at no 8 against Kerela. During 2012-13 season when Sikkim got the status as an Associate member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), he was once again picked to lead the U19 team, where he scored 2 back to back centuries against Nagaland and Mizoram respectively and was also awarded as best Batsman of the tour.
“I have been leading the Sikkim Team since 2004-05, but this is First-Class Cricket and I am very thankful to our Coach, Support Staffs along with the Association for giving me the honor and opportunity to lead the side. I have full confidence in the team and we’ll play with our hearts and spirit. Looking forward to having a good tour.” says Nilesh.
The President of SCA, Lobzang G. Tenzing wishes him best of luck for the tournament and believes that he can take the role of Captaincy with pride and responsibility. He should take the whole team forward with the true spirit of sportsmanship and shouldn’t hesitate for talking bold decisions on behalf of the team and for the best results.
