Under 19 Men’s Team Won Their First Match of The Season
Sikkim registered their first win in the Under 19 Men’s category against Manipur in an ongoing Vinoo Mankad One Day Trophy on 16th October 2019 at SLIMS Cricket Ground, Puducherry by 3 wickets. They have played six matches so far in the tournament out of nine against Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Puducherry, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur.
Due to bad weather the match was reduced to 36 overs per innings where Manipur won the toss and elected to bat first. In the first innings Sikkim bowlers maintained the press from the beginning and managed to keep the run rate of the opponent below 3. Manipur were all-out for 99 runs in 36 overs. Robin Limboo took three wickets, Rahul Kumar Prasad two wickets, Bhim Lal Luitel two wickets, Ingsho Limboo one wicket. In the second innings Sikkim reached the target scoring 101 runs in 34.4 overs with the loss of 7 wickets. Anwesh Karan Sharma the captain of the team played a crucial role by scoring the highest run of the inning (33 runs) and holding the wicket from one end. Rahul Rajvanshi scored 25 runs, Sajal Thapa and Sankalp Sanghai 10 runs each. With this win Sikkim earned 4 points in the league table.
Sikkim will be playing the remaining three matches with Meghalaya, Mizoram and Chandigarh. With this win the players have gained confidence and hope will be able to keep the winning momentum on. The next match will be played against Meghalaya on 19th October at CAP Ground 2, Puducherry.
