Sikkim Under 16 Boy’s Starts The Season With A Victory
Sikkim under 16 Boy’s Cricket Team won their inaugural match against Meghalaya today in ongoing Vijay Merchant Trophy 2019-20 (A Multi-Day Tournament) at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. They won the match with an innings and 114 runs. With this win, Sikkim earned 7 Point(s) in the Northeast and Bihar Division. They will be playing five matches throughout this tournament.
The match was started on 11th October 2019 with Sikkim winning the toss and chooses to field first. In the first innings, Sikkim restricted the opponent to 134 runs with the brilliant bowling by Yawar Hussain taking six wickets, Captain Tarun Sharma taking three wickets and MD Salil Ahmed taking one wicket. The players equally batted well putting on 274 runs in the first innings of which Yawar made 62 runs, Wahajat Mehdi 54 runs, Tarun Sharma 40 runs, Adiv Tamang 36 runs, MD Arif 31 runs, giving the lead on 140 runs on the scoreboard.
In the second innings once again Sikkim showed excellent teamwork by trashing the opponent for just 26 runs. Tusya Naman Sharma took 6 wickets and Yawar Hussain 3 wickets. This is for the first time that two of our bowlers (Yawar and Tusya Naman) achieved a five wickets haul in a match.
Sikkim will be playing against Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur in this tournament and the next encounter will be against Mizoram on 17th October 2019 at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.
