SICA organises Murray Cup and Kaluram Thirani Cup Inter-School State Championships
Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) successfully organised the first-ever Murray Cup Inter-School Under-19 Girls’ State Championship and Kaluram Thirani Cup Inter-School Under-16 Boys’ State Championship at the Sikkim Cricket Ground in Mining from April 19 to 21.
These tournaments mark a revival of two iconic cricket competitions that once played a pivotal role in shaping the sport in Sikkim during the 1980s. With their reintroduction as school-level championships, SICA has not only honoured tradition but also ignited a renewed spark of passion and ambition among the next generation of cricketers.
Amba Secondary School emerged victorious in the Murray Cup, defeating Deorali Girls’ Senior Secondary School by a 64-run margin. The final witnessed a stellar performance from Meezang Lepcha of Amba School, who was named Player of the Final and also took home the honours for Highest Scorer. Reshma Dangal, also from Amba School, shone as Player of the Tournament and Highest Wicket-taker.
In the boys’ Kaluram Thirani Cup, Lingdok Senior Secondary School clinched the title with a 39-run win over Rhenock Senior Secondary School. It was Lingdok School’s Rohit Gautam who dominated the tournament, sweeping Player of the Final, Player of the Tournament and Highest Wicket-taker awards. Aryan Thapa, also from Lingdok School, finished as the Highest Scorer.
Each tournament featured four district champions.
