Consecutive Win For Team Sikkim
The Under 23 Women’s Cricket Team of Sikkim has won its second match of the “Women’s U23 One Day Trophy 2019-20” at Ravenshaw Cricket Ground, Cuttack on 27th January, against Nagaland by 23 runs. It is a big win for the team as Nagaland is one of the stronger teams in the league of the tournament.
With this win, Sikkim has earned 4 Point(s) and standing in the first position of the points table with 8 points.
Sikkim won the toss and chose to bat first. In the first innings, Sikkim made 168 runs in 50 overs at a run rate of 3.36 per over. Rinki Rajak scored 90 runs off 111 balls, Songkit Lepcha (22), Aruna Barman (10) added to the total. Rinki played brilliantly with 2 consecutive half-centuries in both the matches Sikkim has played so far in the tournament, well supported by the rest of the players in the team.
From the beginning of Nagaland’s innings, Sikkim managed to make pressure with two early wickets of both the opening batswoman. The bowlers bowled well throughout the inning with Aruna Barman taking 4 wickets in 9.5 overs, Pranita Chettri and Rinki Rajak taking 1 wicket each. There were four run-outs in the inning by Nandika, Mariam and Tshering Yangden Lepcha. They were all-out for 145 runs in 46.5 overs.
Sikkim will be playing Manipur at KIIT Cricket Stadium on 31st January and the team is very much confident with back to back win.
