BCCI Assignment For Two Video Analysts From Sikkim
Video analysis is the modern technique used in almost all sports to boost the players and team performance. Coaches and trainers analyze video from live-action and training, and the results of their careful analyses provide helpful feedback to the players. In cricket, it is used for team performance analysis, individual player techniques analysis, competitor game analysis, track and monitor the game and individual progress, strength and weakness recognition of players and teams.
Every year the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) conducts Video Analyst Course cum Examination and invites all the cricket associations to send their interested candidates having cricketing knowledge. Seven candidates from Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) attended the Video Analyst Course cum Examination in March this year, out of which four passed and were designated as “Junior Video Analyst”. All of them are traveling with the various categories teams of Sikkim to the camps and tournaments, as the cricketing season 2019-20 has started in September.
Out of the four certified Video Analyst, Karma Gelay Bhutia and Bivash Lamichaney of Gangtok has been assigned by the BCCI as a Jr. Video Analyst in the ongoing Men’s Under 23 One Day Tournament 2019-20, which has started from 31st October in Odisha. They will be assisting the Senior Video Analysts of BCCI throughout the tournament. This is for the first time that anyone from the state of Sikkim has been assigned for such roles in the national level tournaments. Before this assignment, both of them were traveling with the Senior Men’s Cricket of Sikkim and were part of Specialized, Conditioning Camp at Bhubaneshwar, Odisha and Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019 at Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
It is a big achievement for SICA that after the BCCI has given SICA an opportunity to host the Men’s Under 23 One Day Trophy, now they have appointed two of our Video Analyst for such an important role. This assignment will give both the analysts a big exposer and an opportunity to learn from the best in the country.
