Irises Cricket Club wins SICA ‘B’ Division
Irises Cricket Club won SICA ‘B’ Division men’s cricket tournament after defeating Royal Daragaon Cricket Club by 26 runs in the final played at Sikkim Cricket Ground, Mining on April 23.
Irises Club, deciding to bat first, posted 139 runs for seven wickets in 30 overs.
Rahul Tamang hit an unbeaten 75 in 67 balls consisting of seven boundaries and one six.
For Royal Daragaon, Shahzafar Ansari, Bijay Prasad and Aznoor Ansari all captured one wicket each.
Royal Daragaon, in reply, were all out for 113 runs in 29 overs.
Deo Raj Chettri (46) and Adarsh Ramudamu (19) were the top scorers.
Nitesh Kumar Gupta took four wickets for 20 runs. Sancha Hang Subba grabbed two, while Md Saptula, Rahul Tamang and Mandeep Gupta picked a wicket each.
Chief guest Bhanu Bhakta Pradhan, OSD to Chief Minister, gave away trophies to the winner and runner-up teams. B.B. Chettri, Chairman, Cooperation department, was the guest of honour.
Rahul Tamang of Irises Cricket Club won both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament award.
Rahul Tamang also finished as the highest scorer of the tournament, while Shahzafar Ansari of Royal Daragaon was the highest wicket taker.
Irises Cricket Club and Royal Daragaon Cricket Club, after reaching the final, also qualified for the SICA ‘A’ Division men’s tournament.
The Sikkim men’s cricket system consists of the four divisions organized by the Sikkim Cricket Association. They are: ‘A’ Division, ‘B’ Division, ‘C’ Division and ‘D’ Division.
While ‘A’ Division and ‘B’ Division tournaments for the season have been completed, the ‘C’ Division is currently underway across different venues and the ‘D’ Division will start by the end of this month.
