Sikkim Cricket Association Holds Election As Per Lodha Committee Recommendation
Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) hold its First Election after the Justice Lodha recommended constitution was adopted by SICA. SICA is perhaps one of the first Cricket Associations in India to hold early elections as per the timeline was given by the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) guidelines. As per the timeline all state cricket association has to hold an election before 14th of September 2019.
The Annual General Meeting of SICA was held on 31st August 2019 and it was resolved to hold the election on 5th September 2019. The election was conducted by Electoral Officer Shri Tse Ten Dorjee (IAS) Retired Chief Secretary (approved by the COA). Prabhakar Verma (IAS), CEO Sikkim was present as the observer for the election. The body unanimously elected the following: Lobzang G. Tenzing (The President), Karma Gelek Bhutia (Vice President), Tshewang Lama (General Secretary), Karma Sonam (Joint Secretary), and Naresh Kumar Agarwal (Treasurer).
This body is the mixture of senior administrators, ex-players and young qualified individuals. As per the new constitution, the term of the new office bearers will be three years. The Apex council will also have a representative of the Accountant General office. Miss Kikam Bhutia and Bivash Lamichaney who are representative of Players body are directly inducted in the apex council.
