Inter-School Cricket Tournaments 2019-20 Starts Today
Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) starts the Inter-School Cricket Tournament 2019-20, with the Inaugural Match played between Kitam Senior Secondary School and Jorethang Senior Secondary School at Jorethang Ground today. Jorethang Senior Secondary School won the toss and chose to field. In the first innings, Kitam Senior Secondary School got All-Out for 44 runs at 11.3 overs and in the second innings Jorethang Senior Secondary School won the match by 6 wickets at 10.3 overs. Salim Ahmed, who took 5 wickets for Jorethang Senior Secondary School in 4 Overs conceding just 8 runs was, announced Man of the Match.
The tournament will be played in all four districts of Sikkim where 18 schools have participated. The league matches will be played from 1st June 2019 to 11th June 2019 and thereafter the knockouts will start.
The main motive in organizing this the tournament is to encourage youths of Sikkim to play cricket and take it as a career and also it is a platform where players from all around the Sikkim gets an opportunity to showcase their talents and make their place in the Sikkim team and represent the State and in the National Level tournaments.
A gruelling selection process of Senior Men’s and Under-23 Men’s has been completed but their fitness is being watched by selectors and support staffs. A month-long gym session will start for all, followed by a long and arduous conditioning camp before the season.
