Sikkim Wins Their Second Ranji Trophy Match Of 2018-19 Season
Sikkim is playing Ranji Trophy for the first time in the history of Indian Domestic Cricket along with the other Northeast States, Puducherry and Uttarakhand in the plate division along with Bihar who is back to the Ranji after 18 years.
So far Sikkim has played 2 matches out of 8 which they will be playing in the league. After registering victory with an innings and 27 runs in the first match against Manipur at Kolkata, Sikkim has also won its second match today against Nagaland in Sovima, Nagaland with 9 wickets. This win took Sikkim is at the top of the Plate Division Points table with 13 points.
It was a partnership of 90 runs between Ashish Thapa and Milind Kumar, 174 runs between Milind Kumar and Bipul Sharma and 50 runs between Padam Limboo and Milind Kumar, in the first innings helped Sikkim get a good total and lead on the scoreboard. On the other end some brilliant bowling by Ishwar Chaudhary, Bipul Sharma, Lee Yong Lepcha and Milind Kumar in both the Innings restricted the opponent to 179 runs in first innings and 273 runs in second innings.
In the Second innings the partnership between Nilesh Lamichaney and Faizan Khan of 61 runs and of 20 runs between Ashish Thapa and Nilesh Lamichaney, took Sikkim to a comfortable victory. Sikkim made 81/1 in the second innings of 25.4 overs.
These wins have brought the confidence between the players and they are hungry for more wins in the upcoming matches. Sikkim will be facing Uttarakhand next at KIITS Cricket Ground, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on 20th November 2018, which is also their first home match.
